New to the Tikka T1x, or here for something specific? Pick the path that sounds like you.

New owner quick-start

  1. Check your thread pitch: US rifles are 1/2-28, UK/AU 1/2-20.
  2. Torque the action screws per the manual (7 Nm / 62 in-lb with a metal guard) — the T1x is torque-sensitive.
  3. Buy T1x-specific rails — T3x rails don't fit and rails are handed. Prefer 0–20 MOA; 30+ MOA can prevent a 50-yd zero.
  4. Expect a stiff bolt lift at first; a longer bolt handle helps.
  5. Leave the barrel alone — removal needs a barrel vise, heat and a gunsmith.
  6. See known issues and the ~$127 budget build.
